Pinterest is driving more traffic to company websites and blogs than YouTube, Google+ and LinkedIn combined!
While the online marketing opportunity isn’t as clear for our photography insurance agency, it is extremely applicable to our photographers! We urge all of our clients to check out www.pinterest.com if you aren’t busy “pinning” already! The site received 7 million unique visitors last December (up from 1.6 million in September) and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. (i)
The good news? Pinterest is best utilized if your business is visually-oriented.
To understand how your photography business can take advantage of this social media platform, you must first understand what it is. Pinterest allows you to arrange images into boards for specific categories. So when you “pin” something new, your followers will see it.
Your followers can choose to like, comment or re-pin your pin to their boards. Just like YouTube, your pins have potential to go viral!
We suggest using pinterest to not only pin your own professional photographers, but open up your world as a photographer and pin images of things that inspire your creative mind. Not all of us are photographic artsits, so it’s fascinating to step inside the mind of a creative professional.
You can also create attractive images that promote sales or special discounts for a photography session!
One last suggestion? Find a pinterest-active user in your area (for example, a bakery) and offer to take discounted photos of their fabulous offers (cupcakes and desserts?) with the agreement you can use your signage to cross promote your photography services.. Now that’s a win-win marketing strategy!
Are you using Pinterest already? What is your experience so far?
